Brain Cancer Treatment

The brain is the center of transmission and reception of all signals in our body. The entire workings of the body is controlled by the brain. Our thought processing and our stimulus actions all are the workings of the brain. When a tumor is formed in the brain it immediately affects the daily tasks that is performed by this organ. The whole functioning of the body is affected. The treatment methods are also very tricky as the brain is composed of delicate and intricately set nerves; even is a single nerve is affected it may permanently damage the working of a part of the body that is controlled by that single nerve. So Brain Cancer Treatment is a very delicate mode of cure that needs to be devised properly.
Treatment of Brain Cancer

The things that need to be considered before deciding on the treatment for Brain Cancer includes the age of the patient, the stage of the Brain Tumor and the type of Brain Cancer that the person is suffering from. Surgery, radiation therapy and chemotherapy are the usual Brain Cancer Treatment. These are the conventional or conservative Brain Tumor Treatment but the nutritional therapy, mind body medication and psychiatric therapy are the additional treatment options that is offered to patients. Spiritual Brain Cancer Treatment is a new field of cure that is slowly gaining popularity.

Brain Cancer Treatment options

Surgery is the treatment that is administered when the tumor of the brain is in its initial state. The operation involves removal of the tumor taking care so as not to damage the surrounding nerves. This method is successful in removing most of the tumor. The complications include the location where the tumor has developed. At times it becomes difficult to work around the intricate set of nerves that surround the tumor. A slight slip of hand may result in stopping the function that was performed by the damaged nerve. This is why brain surgery is at times referred to as neurosurgery. Crainiotomy is another method of Brain Cancer Treatment which involves removing as much of the tumor as possible. The difference from the conventional surgery lies in the fact that the operation is performed under general anesthesia. The skull is opened and as much of the tumor as possible is removed. Laser microsurgery is a method of treatment that is done after Crainiotomy to remove the last traces of the cancerous tumor.

Radiation Therapy and Chemotherapy

This treatment is a post operative procedure which helps to remove the cancerous cells completely. When the Brain Cancer has metastasized then it is not possible to remove the entire tumor through neurosurgery but application of radiation helps to wipe out the last traces of the Brain Tumor. A combination of chemical drugs is given to the patient which helps to attack the tumor and destroy it. At times Chemotherapy is given post surgery and radiation therapy.
